NLP Approach to Depression

Depression feels terrible and seems to have a life of its own. Typically, the awful feeling is attributed to some past events, and treated with medication, to alleviate the symptoms.

You may not even remember the event, but it remains alive inside your subconscious mind. It’s as if it was still happening.

Because you are not able to resolve it, you are subconsciously “running in circles”. As a result you feel helpless, and the only locus of control becomes you.

Traditional psychology does not address the mechanics of depression, and how to disrupt the process of getting into the depressive state. 

NLP approaches depression in an entirely different way than the traditional approach

The main NLP idea is that regardless of what happened to you in the past, you can live a normal life,  not affected by any past event.

This can happen only when we disrupt the subconscious mechanism by which you were  “re-bring” the past event into your now- on a purely subconscious level.

In your mind, you are reacting to an event, which exists unresolved somewhere in your subconscious mind.

It’s as if you were replying the same tape over and over again, and reacting to the same movie, over and over again.

The event remains alive in your mind as a testimony to the creative powers of your brain.

You also follow a number of rapid steps to create the depressed feeling, and then continue creating negative movies of the future. Depression becomes habituated.

So, in essence, you are living in the past and in the future, simultaneously, compromising your present moment with distortions of reality.

How NLP Works For Depression
